A Message from Dr. Charlie Wallace

Good Morning!

Today we start a new sermon series as we look at Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 5-7. This section is typically called the Sermon on the Mount. Throughout this sermon, Jesus teaches on a variety of subjects that pertain to the Christian life and the kingdom of God.

Today we’re looking at the introductory section which is called the Beatitudes. One author says, “The Beatitudes do not teach us what we must do to earn the kingdom; the Beatitudes speak of the blessings of those who have been redeemed. Thus, the Beatitudes refer first of all to what we already are in Christ. To be sure, they also speak of those spiritual characteristics into which we ought to strive, by God’s grace, to grow more and more.”

The beatitudes are for the believer. It tells us who we are and what we will receive. Thank God today for salvation in Jesus Christ who gives us these blessings we will learn about today.
