  • Good morning!
Today we finish our sermon series on unity in the church as we look at the first half of the third chapter of 1 Corinthians. In this section, Paul addresses a divided church, urging the believers to move beyond childlike behavior and finally take some accountability for their spiritual growth. At First Baptist, our key values are being grounded in God, growing in Christ, and giving to others. The order this takes place is important. Many rush to “give” or exercise their spiritual gifts without the proper theological grounding. Or, some seek to do things in the church without growing in their relationship with Jesus. This was the problem the Corinthians faced. There were many “baby” Christians who wanted accolades and preferences but who weren’t willing to put in the hard spiritual work that it takes to keep a church unified. We will see today how we can make sure we are grounded and growing before we start giving.
I’m so glad you have made it a priority to worship with us today. May the Lord bless you and may his face shine down upon you this Sunday.
    In Christ
    Pastor Charlie
