Good morning! It's great to have you join us today to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are continuing our series on Christian liberty as we learn about the sacrifice of discipline. If you think about it, sacrifice is the essence of discipline. When we discipline ourselves in a certain activity, or refrain from others, we are sacrificing something. Most often we're sacrificing free time, pleasure, or some other freedom that we enjoy. But the sacrifice is worth it because it makes us more like Jesus
Discipline, however, can be difficult to achieve on our own willpower. This is why we need to also rely on the grace of God to help us. We are not only saved by grace, but we're also empowered and sustained by grace. This is one of the benefits of salvation.
As you settle into your pew this morning, ask the Lord to prepare your heart for worship. Even this request is a sacrifice of discipline.
In Christ, Pastor Charlie
