Happy Sunday, Church!
Today we finish our “Words of Jesus” sermon series with the phrase “This is My Body.” With this phrase, Jesus introduced the ordinance of the Lord’s
Supper, or Communion. Outside of the birth, crucifixion, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, this event contains many of the most important elements of understanding faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. It also acts as a bridge of sorts from Jesus’ ministry to his death since after the supper he was arrested.
Likewise, today’s sermon serves as a bridge of sorts from our current series to our next one which features the betrayal of Jesus. Starting next week we will spend six Sundays outlining the arrest, trial, and death of Jesus. These next few weeks will be emotional as we take time to meditate on the sacrifice Jesus made for us. Thankfully, we will end 2024 learning all about his victorious resurrection. If you have a friend you’ve been thinking about inviting to worship these next few weeks gives you an ideal opportunity.
Take time this morning to prepare your heart to receive the body and blood of Jesus.
