1. Embrace God’s design (v.33b-35)
33b As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says.
1 Corinthians 11:5: But every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven.
35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.
Ephesians 5:22-23: 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
1. Men need to embrace God’s design to lead sacrificially
2. Women need to embrace God’s design to respectfully submit
3. Everyone needs to embrace God’s design to surrender self-rule
2. Submit to God’s Word (v.36-38)
36 Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that
the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.
1 Thessalonians 2:13: And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
