Leadership Update July 2023
Church Family,
I hope you are enjoying your summer! As we reach the midpoint of the year, I wanted to take a moment to provide you with an update on what we have accomplished, as well as significant milestones, that have occurred at First Baptist Moncks Corner during the first half of 2023.
1. Staff changes
We’ve had some recent turnover with our staff. Our financial assistant, Margaret Wilcox, has moved to Ridgeville and our pastoral assistant, Juliette Lowry, has moved to Hanahan! Therefore, we had a couple of openings we had to fill. Lynn DuBois is our new financial assistant. She has over 20 years of accounting experience and is already doing a great job. Give a big “thank you” to our treasurer, Sarah Steele, as she has been working with Lynn.
We have filled our pastoral ministry assistant spot by outsourcing our creative needs to Good Grain Creative. Good Grain, led by Asher Segelken, will be managing our website, email and social media. Additionally, they will be providing us graphic design and video help as well. This will be a huge blessing and you’ll notice a difference right away.
2. Worship
Our worship attendance has continued to grow since COVID. Compared to the first half of 2022, our attendance has grown 19%! Our dedicated team of worship leaders, musicians, choir members and volunteers have continued to work tirelessly to create meaningful worship experiences, both in person and through our online platforms.
3. Discipleship
Making disciples is at the heart of what we do as a church. We are proud to report that our outreach initiatives have made a significant impact. If you’ve been able to look inside our welcome center, you’ll see many multicolored ping pong balls filling up our “Who’s Your One” display. These balls represent people that our church family have prayed for, served, had conversations, shared the gospel, and even seen come to faith in Christ! What a testimony!
We took a team of 19 to Anaheim, California for a mission trip. We were able to serve the Gospel and help a church plant. Several people made professions of faith!
In our own church, we have baptized 15 already in 2023! Praise God!
Vacation Bible School was a success and led to some of these baptisms. We had over 170 individual children registered and 40+ volunteers. It really was a great week!
4. Future Plans
Looking ahead, we have exciting things in store for the fall of 2023. We have a mission trip to Panama City, Panama planned for the end of July. In August, we’ll restart our Wednesday night programs as well.
The first half of 2023 has been a season of transition, growth and renewal for First Baptist Church. We are immensely grateful for your support, prayers, and active involvement in the life of our church. Together, we can continue to be grounded in God, growing in Christ, and giving to others as we set about making disciples.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always!
In Christ,
Dr. Charlie Wallace
Senior Pastor
